What will become one of the best App Lab games out there, Warplanes: WW1 Fighters is currently awaiting approval.
The title, which we described as one of the most polished SideQuest titles out there, is already available on itch.io.
Warplanes: WW1 Fighters launched last month on SideQuest, the unofficial Appstore for Oculus Quest headsets. Developed by Polish VR developer Home Net Games, we described the game as "maybe the most polished title on the [SideQuest] store" when it released:
This is one of the best looking games to come out of SideQuest and it shows that there are quality, top level developers who want to break into the VR market without bowing down to the heavily regulated Oculus ecosystem.
This is because - unlike a lot of other applications on the SideQuest store - Warplanes is a full-blown, Triple-A quality title. Included is a full Central Powers campaign, and that's just the start: the developer has even promised future updates that will expand what the game has to offer. You can even get a free trial that allows you to play through two unique missions with six WW1 era German fighter planes.
Luckily, Warplanes WW1 Fighters is about to be a lot easier to install, thanks to the fact developer Home Net Games have submitted the title to App Lab awaiting approval.
If you aren't familiar with App Lab, it is Oculus's new official channel for developers to get titles which haven't been through Facebook's rigorous curation process, straight into the hands of fans.
Using App Labs, developers can now distribute unlisted games via either direct link or marketplaces like App Lab DB. If you'd like more information on how to locate App Lab applications, check out our guide on finding the best unlisted games and apps on Quest.
