Swarm VR is out on Quest and Rift headsets, SteamVR version coming soon

Swarm, the single player grappling hook shooter has officially launched on the Oculus store. The game is now available on the Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift platforms. Unfortunately, the game has not yet released on Steam.

Swarm developers, Greensky Games, have partnered with Oculus to bring the title to the Oculus suite of headsets first with cross-buy support. They have announced that the game will be releasing on Steam later this year. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the PC VR release has been pushed back until the summer.

If you have an Oculus headset, we heartily recommend checking it out. Swarm will offer 25 levels across 5 dynamic zones that you will swing around in with your grappling hook to defeat your enemies. You start off with some basic pistols but powerups, gun pickups, and score multipliers quickly add some depth and complexity to the game.

The gameplay is really interesting, it is a fantastic VR shooter with some of the best motion controls out there, but I would have preferred slightly more accurate gunplay with the pistols. The only real issue with the game, is the lack of replayability. There are some leader boards and tasks for each level, but we would have liked an endless mode or another option besides the single player campaign.

For a game that promises fast-paced grappling hook gameplay, you would be forgiven for assuming that you might feel a little sick after playing. However, the developers have announced that the game does not cause motion sickness. Having tried out the game for a few hours, I would have to agree with the developers, there is absolutely no motion sickness in this shooter.
