Despite controversy after controversy, the Quest 2 continues to succeed in every measure. Facebook now has another feather in their cap: more than 50% of SteamVR players are now using Oculus headsets.
But now, according to Steam's monthly Hardware Survey data, Facebook have found another achievement - 53.3% of SteamVR players are now using an Oculus headset to do so.
This is the first time any PC-capable headset has surpassed the 50% mark since Valve improved the accuracy of their Hardware Survey reports in February.
Although we can't know for sure how many of those 53.3% of headsets are Quest 2, it's fair to say that amazing launch numbers certainly contributed to it. Steam's latest report reveals that the share of Quest headsets on the platform rose by 5.53% - the largest month-to-month increase since the Rift S dropped last year.
Meanwhile, while Rift S share remained the highest (at 25.09%, with a rise of 0.46%), share of the Original Rift fell by 0.5%. All in all, the total percentage of Steam users with a VR headset all all rose to 1.91%.
Last month, 1 in 6 headsets were Oculus Quests - for the first time more than the Valve Index. However, it's important to keep in mind that some people haven't gotten their hands on the Valve Index due to the backlog.
If you're still looking to order one, here's how long it'd take to get to you where you are.
