After teasing us for months, Population One Season 1 developer BigBox VR have finally revealed when fans will have access to map updates, new social features, 5 new weapons and items, and much more.
Promising that "combat will never be the same", Population: One Season 1 will launch on Thursday the 25th of February, 2021.
Population: One developer Big Box VR have finally revealed when the long-awaited Season 1: Uprising event will begin.
We're well familiar with the idea of 'seasons' associated with today's most popular Battle Royale shooters. Events, new features, changing textures and new maps are usual benchmarks of these strategies to keep these free-for-all shooters fresh for their most loyal players.
Of course, Population: One is no different. We've already seen a bunch of new features and weapons teased.
The Population One Season One event has been titled 'Uprising', and explores a band of rebels dubbed 'The Seekers', who are pushing a revolt against Population One's corporate overlords.
We were told that Population: One Season 1 would launch towards the end of February, but we now know it'll launch on Thursday the 25th. When it does, it'll last for 10-weeks. That means it'll start up only a few days after the 'Advanced War Mode' comes to an end today.
The latest teaser explains that the new season will release “map updates, new social features, 5 new weapons and items".
We're not sure yet of everything that'll come with 'Uprising', but we do already know some features which have been previewed.
New map updates will give players access to the mysterious central Tower for the very first time, as Big Box VR CEO Chia Chin Lee explains:
"The Season One update builds upon our Vertical Combat System to give players even more ways to play and create social connections, only possible in VR. We can’t wait to share more details soon on what’s coming in Season One."
A new addition to the game will be the so-called 'Seeker Credits', which players can gift to one another to unlock season-specific weapons and items. These items include a high-powered LMG, which is short for 'Light Machine Gun'. This will be a support class weapon that can be used to "suppress enemy fire so squamates can flank for the win." The Seasons will also introduce melee weapons to Population: One for the first time. These will include a katana and a knife, among others. These may seem like small changes, but the Population One Season One teasers claims that "combat will never be the same."
