But if you are an AR puzzle fan looking for an extra challenge, you're in luck. The New York Time's Shattered Crosswords puzzle is now available in AR, and you can access it straight from Instagram.
To play the game, just head over to the New York Times' official Instagram page on mobile, and look out for the Shattered Crosswords story effect. Since this is an AR title, make sure you have a flat surface nearby in which you can approach your virtual gauntlet.
The New York Times' famous crossword has been available online for some time - but Shattered Crosswords switches things up a little bit. You'll need to shift your perspective to reassemble the clues you'll need to work your way through the puzzle. If you've played games like Polysphere, you'll be familiar with the concept.
The new game was constructed using Facebook's Spark AR platform, and marks the first time The New York Times have created an AR gaming experience. However, they're no strangers to augmented reality. Last year the paper announced a multi-year collaboration with Facebook focused on integrating Instagram's AR technology into future NYT reporting.
