HTC Vivecon: New HTC Vive Headset To Be Revealed Next Month?

HTC revealed a 'Vivecon' event which is to take place next month, where many anticipate the long-rumoured 'Next-Gen Standalone' will be debuted for the first time.

After months of teasing various products and accessories in mysterious social media close-ups, HTC appeared to tease a New Vive headset last week.

Last week's teaser image, which many of us assumed to be hinting at the release of a new HTC Vive VR (Virtual Reality) headset, was enough to get us engaged.

But I never would have guessed it would be paid off so soon. Now, HTC have revealed a 'Vivecon' event which is to take place next month, where many anticipate the long-rumoured 'Next-Gen Standalone' will be debuted for the first time.

After months of teasing new devices and accessories in twitter close-ups, HTC finally paid off those teases with the new tracking puck and facial sensor accessories. And then, at the end of last week, HTC appeared to reveal something a little more substantial that "the accessories":

We've been anticipating a new HTC VR headset reveal for quite some time. Last month, in an interview with TeliportMe, Graylin described an upcoming "Next-Gen standalone" which would be a significant upgrade "from every perspective." In fact, he described it as "better than what's out there from any vendor today."

Maybe it's because the Quest is probably a tough competitor to tackle, but Graylin seems to dismiss the notion that HTC were cooking up a 'Quest killer' - even if it is a AIO (All-In-One). That being said, all eyes will be on the company to see if they can hold a flame to the incredible success of the Oculus Quest, not least because a recent report stated that 17% of Facebook employees are currently working on Virtual Reality projects.

HTC's Vivecon 2021 Event will take place next month, between Tuesday the 11th and Wednesday the 12th of May, 2021.

If that's not enough to get you hyped, I'm not sure what will. Be sure to keep it tuned to VRFinal for coverage of next month's Vivecon as it happens, and all the news & leaks that will be likely to drop beforehand.
