Everything you need to know about Hitman 3 VR
Last month, I0 Interactive opened pre-orders for the long-anticipated eighth instalment in the Hitman franchise, Hitman 3. Here's everything you need to know:
The game is set to release on the 20th of January 2021 for Xbox Series S & X, PS5, Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The VR game modes, however, will be available exclusively on the PS5.
Hitman 3 will see players once again take the role of Agent 47, a globe-trotting stealth assassin. Hitman 3 will be the long-anticipated conclusion to the World of Assassins trilogy, where Agent 47 will be tasked with taking out the partners of Providence; those ultimately responsible for his own creation. But this time, gamers will have the opportunity to transcend the franchise's third-person perspective and take down their targets in first-person VR.
Eskil Mohl, Senior Game Designer at I0 Interactive, has previously revealed that Hitman 3 VR will take advantage of the DualShock controller's gyro aiming and motion sensors, rather than depending on the PlayStation Move controllers. Mohl also explained that the Hitman experience would not lose any gameplay elements if played in VR.
Pocket-lint.com also reported last month that Hitman 3 would allow players to import missions from the previous two Hitman titles and play them in VR on the PS5. On the changes players should anticipate returning in VR, the developers said:
"Playing in VR will literally change the way you play with a first-person perspective that lets you immerse yourself into the game world. Stand face-to-face with your targets, blend-in to a busy crowd to overhear conversations and interact with the game world using your hands. For example, imagine that you’ve picked up a frying pan and you sneak up on a guard. You can swing the frying pan in whatever angle you want to knock them out – and then use it to deflect bullets that are fired as you make your escape."
Hitman 3 is available now for pre-order. In meantime, you might want to revisit some of the PSVR classics as Sony have revealed they'll play even better on the PS5.
