DvG: Conquering Giants Director Reveals New Details about the Upcoming Project

Jarom Sidwell, Director of the upcoming DvG: Conquering Giants, talks about the bible, history, and building a 1:1 VR scale model of Jureselum 2000 years ago.

Jarom Sidwell, Director of the upcoming DvG: Conquering Giants, sat down with comicbookmovie.com to discuss his career and the development of his latest project:

There are monsters, and there is a shepherd boy. You become the character, David, the young shepherd boy whose first task is to watch his sheep. Dad gives you a sling or a slingshot, depending on the difficulty level that you want. There are wolves in the bushes nearby; watch out for them and don't let a single sheep get eaten. And thus the game begins.

Sidwell discussed the origins of the project, explaining that he had first founded 'Immersive History', a software company focused on "bringing the past to life through immersive storytelling and history" - taking advantage of AR & VR technology as well as Mobile Apps. In one of the company's most spectacular projects, Sidwell joined forces with archaeologists, rabbis and tour guides in order to build an immersive 3D model of Jerusalem from 2000 years ago.

Bill, the founder of Virtuous VR Gaming, saw what we were doing with the immersive Bible project. He thought that was awesome and wanted to get together to talk over some ideas. Bill went in and experienced the whole virtual reality thing. He said, "oh, this is cool. What do you want to do next?" And I said, "I'm glad you asked, Bill. I wanted to put you (the player) in the stories more." He was like, "well, what's the best story?" And I said, "David versus Goliath, it's the greatest duel of all time. You got a little boy and a giant soldier with a sword and spears versus a sling. That's the greatest underdog story ever!

Sidwell, a Hollywood visual effects veteran, is known for his work on films like The Avengers, Avatar, The Hobbit, Transformers and Man of Steel. He hopes to take these big screen credentials and bring them to DvG: Conquering Giants, which is "a reimagined immersive experience based on one of history's greatest duels."

DvG: Conquering Giants is set to release on the Oculus Rift S, HTC Vive and Steam VR on November 23rd. The game will come to Oculus Quest 2 and PlayStation VR one month later, on December 23rd.
