Resolution Games, a popular VR developer from Sweden, released a new game titled Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale for Oculus Quest and Rift headsets on September 3rd. You may be familiar with some of Resolution's previous titles including Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs for AR and VR, Narrows, and Solitaire Gesture.
Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale shares some common ground with those earlier releases, but it also resembles other well-known cooking games such as Overcooked. Like Overcooked and its sequel Overcooked 2, Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale allows up to four "chefs" to play cooperatively.
As its name implies, the game focuses on sandwiches rather than working with a wider range of dishes. You can get a better idea of the experience by checking out the gameplay demo below:
Orders are displayed above each diner, and teams need to collaborate effectively in order to get meals out quickly. Each player has access to separate ingredients, requiring them to work together in order to prepare a complete sandwich. The game also throws in unruly customers who tamper with the workflow and force players to adjust on the fly.
Of course, this type of design philosophy works best as a multiplayer experience, so single-player gamers may not find as much to enjoy. Individual users can work with a computer-controlled robot chef, but the game was clearly intended for at least two players.
If you've played Overcooked, you'll be familiar with the brand of frantic kitchen action on display in Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale. It's currently available for Oculus Quest and Rift headsets for $19.99. You can check out the Resolution Games website for more information about Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale and the developer's prior releases.
